Golder Associates Inc. is currently seeking an entry-level Hydrogeologist/Geologist or Scientist for our Jacksonville Florida office as part of the Engineering & Remediation Team.


In this role you will perform investigations (including soil, sediment, surface water, and groundwater sampling methods), aquifer tests, soil classification/geologic logging, well installation oversight, geochemistry, groundwater modeling, and water quality studies.  The position includes field work, data collection, analysis and interpretation, and assistance with preparing reports. Specific duties may include:


  • Conducting and supervising geologic, hydrogeologic, and geotechnical investigations.
  • Collecting environmental, hydrogeologic, and bio-geochemical samples and data.
  • Evaluation/interpretation of geochemistry, numerical, and analytical groundwater modeling data.
  • Assistance with the preparation of technical reports.
  • Interaction with coworkers, clients, subcontractors, and regulators.
  • Working in teams, but self-sufficient and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel as dictated by project demands and work extended hours when necessary. 

Job Requirements

The successful candidate must have adequate degree and coursework to satisfy academic requirements for licensure under the National Association of State Boards of Geology or the Florida Board of Professional Engineers

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in geology/ hydrogeology.  
  • A proficiency in the use of computer software, including Microsoft Excel and Word.  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with leadership ability.
  • A willingness to obtain a 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training certification and to work on sites that are potentially impacted by releases of regulated chemicals.   


Preferred Skills and Training


  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in geology/ hydrogeology (no experience required)
  • Knowledge of EQuIS, ChemStat, MODFLOW, gINT, AutoCAD, AQTESOLVE, EVS etc. are preferred, but not required. 
  • Familiarity working within the parameters of various Federal, State and local environmental regulations and programs.  
  • Sampling in accordance with the State of Florida Standard Operating Procedures and oversight of well installation activities. 
  • Prior possession of 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training certification and associated annual refreshers is preferred. 
  • Possession of a passport. 
  • CPR/First Aid training.
