Job Responsibilities

Golder Associates Inc. is currently seeking an Environmental or Natural Resources Scientist/Engineer for the Elko office to provide a variety of environmental, ecological, and regulatory permitting services to many high profile projects in northern Nevada and throughout the world. Due to increasing workloads, we currently have an immediate and long-term opening for an environmental or natural resources scientist.


The successful candidate/s will provide environmental support for planning, design and permitting expertise on large mining projects. As part of a multi-disciplinary team you will apply your environmental science capabilities to a variety of projects. You will work with Golder’s clients and your other client contacts to bring in new work for Golder’s mine environment group


Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and adhering to site-specific health and safety plans to mitigate or eliminate risks to you, Golder's clients, employees and the public.
  • Participating on environmental projects from the proposal stage to planning and execution.
  • Involvement with and mentoring within the office and across the country.
  • Field data analysis and interpretation, report writing and client/project coordination. While the primary focus will be on local mining projects, opportunities will exist to work on a variety of large environmental projects, as well as with other Golder offices worldwide.
  • Assisting in the development of project specific plans.
  • Participating in conducting field studies, collecting monitoring data, and preparing reports for a wide range of projects.
  • Collecting, preparing and tracking information for various project documents including proposals and progress reports.
  • Undertake assignments that may involve travel and periods of time away from home office. Including baseline field studies, construction compliance monitoring, site reconnaissance, field biological surveys, client meetings, etc.
  • Adhering to QA/ QC procedures to ensure completion of project documents according to company standards.
  • Opportunities will exist to work on engineering projects throughout Golder’s global network of offices.

Job Requirements

The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in biological or environmental science
  • Self-motivated and well organized
  • Good oral presentation and report writing skills
  • A strong “safety first” focus
  • Strong all-round academic knowledge of Great Basin flora and fauna and U.S. environmental policy
  • Preference given to those with previous related field experience
  • A valid driver’s license is required
