Golder Associates  Inc. is currently seeking an Environmental Scientist / Engineer to join our team of professionals in Richmond, VA.  In this role you will have opportunities to use your knowledge and skill for environmental science and engineering, including database management, data validation, statistical evaluations, troubleshooting, report writing, and remediation design, etc. to provide world-class consulting services to a variety of clients.

 

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Performing assigned field work and data collection activities for various media (groundwater, surface water, soil, air, etc.);
  • Providing technical support for hydrogeologic and remedial investigations, hydrogeologic testing, groundwater monitoring programs, surface water monitoring programs, and wastewater monitoring programs;
  • Performing office-based data validation, data compilation, and data evaluation activities;
  • Performing subsurface field geologic exploration tasks including drilling and test pit explorations;
  • Performing Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments consistent with ASTM standards;
  • Coordinating with subcontractors for project-required services, including drilling, surveying, and laboratory analyses;
  • Planning and scheduling of field activities for projects;
  • Writing Reports and correspondence for projects;
  • Completing other related duties to support a project team; and
  • Performing routine project management duties including proposal preparation, budget and schedule tracking, report preparation, and resource management.

 

 

Job Requirements

 

 

The preferred candidate for this full-time position (40 hours per week) will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • BS in Environmental Science or Engineering; MS preferred;
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in environmental consulting is required;
  • The candidate must be detail-oriented, and a team player with good communication, analytical, organization, and time management skills;
  • Demonstrate consulting experience in the environmental consulting industry;
  • Experience supervising sub-contractors, including laboratories is required;
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills are required, along with willingness to work as part of a group;
  • Ability to operate and maintain field testing and monitoring equipment;
  • Exhibit strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite; experience with other data analysis and database tools is a plus;
  • Previous experience with the use of the Earthsoft Environmental Data Management Software EQuIS is strongly desired;
  • Performance of work in inclement weather conditions following OSHA requirements;
  • Ability to lift and transport a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis during the course of work;
  • Must have a clean driving record and valid driver's license, be able to drive a company vehicle, willingness and exhibit a willingness to travel for field work as dictated by project demands which could be upwards of 50% of the time and periodically adjust personal schedules to meet project needs; and
  • Completed 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER health and safety training and current, valid refresher course.
