    The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania office is seeking a Project Geotechnical Engineer to work as part of a team on civil, geotechnical and geological engineering projects. In this role you will have the opportunity to perform geotechincal evaluations and calculations, write technical documents, conduct subsurface investigations, and provide field monitoring, testing, and sampling for a variety of projects. Assignments may include travel to remote locations and outside work in various climates.

     

    • Scope, budget, execute, and interpret subsurface explorations, with senior technical advice and review;
    • Prepare geotechnical data reports, caluclations and modeling;
    • Prepare geotechnical recommendations reports with senior review;
    • Ability to work with a team or with minimal supervision, and with contractors and cross-discipline in-house designers;
    • Be willing and able to work on projects across sectors, performing a variety of suitable tasks as projects demand;
    • Assist with writing reports, cost estimating, specifications, and permit documents with senior technical advice and review;

     

    Job Requirements

    • Candidates should have a BS in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering; MS in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred;
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience is required, at least one year of experience in the civil, geotechnical, mining and/or environmental engineering field is preferred;
    • Candidates with a FE/EIT registration will receive primary consideration;
    • The candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with excellent analytical abilities, leadership ability, a positive attitude and ability to work both independently and within groups
    • The position requires travel and field work as dictated by project demands
    • Additional desirable skills include: field logging and sampling, experience with slope stability, settlement, earth retention, foundations, general civil design experience, construction experience, rock engineering, or other geotechnical analyses
    • A willingness to perform a variety of assignments on short notice is valuable
    • Experience and proficiency with AutoCAD is preferred
    • Competence in the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is necessary
