    Project Controls Engineer (Planner / Scheduler)

     

    Golder Associates is an Engineering Consulting company. This project controls position would be responsible for implementing an integrated project controls approach, which includes scheduling, cost control, and progress and performance analysis. Projects range from small engineering studies to large design and construction projects. Responsibilities may include:

    • Help define executable Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) that aligns schedule, cost control and earned value analysis
    • Provide scheduling support, using MS Project and Primavera P6
    • Analyze cost variances and performance metrics
    • Contribute to proposal efforts
    • Plan and manage project schedules including critical path analysis
    • Help implement change management processes, and track impact on earned value basis and forecast at completion
    • Reconcile accounting information with Excel based Project Controls tools
    • Work closely with project managers, client representatives, and engineering discipline leads to support project delivery

     

    Job Requirements

    Requirements:

    • B.S. in Engineering (Civil, Mining, Mechanical, Chemical, etc.) or Construction Management
    • six months to 5 years of experience in Engineering Design or Heavy Construction
    • Basic understanding of scheduling principles and tools
    • Excellent analytical and communication skills
    • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
    • Strong interest in Scheduling, Project Controls, and Project Management
    • Ability and desire to communicate appropriately with clients and senior staff
    • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team
    • Strong attention to detail

     

    • Preferred Skills and Attributes:
    • Experience planning and managing projects in MS Project and Primavera P6
    • Clear understanding of Earned Value Analysis in both engineering and construction projects
    • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering  and construction management principles and practices as well as the associated metrics and information flow
    • Experience using a commercially available Cost Control Tool (Prism or Similar)
    • Extensive experience using Excel formulas and macros
    • Engineering design process understanding and heavy industrial construction experience
