    Golder Associates Ltd. is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer – New Grad to join Engineering and Design group in Elko, Nevada.  Golder is currently a world leader in the provision of these types of services to premier mining clients worldwide.  As a result, our consultants are in demand throughout the world and Golder can offer a very interesting and stimulating work environment for a junior engineer who will be surrounded by leaders in the field.

     

    The successful candidate will learn how to use cutting edge equipment and design to achieve the clients’ goals of minimizing the environmental impact of the disposal of their waste products and the re-use of some of those waste products for beneficial purposes such as underground structural fill.

     

    Your duties will include but will not be limited to the following: 

    • Visiting client facilities at mine sites throughout the world;
    • Reviewing laboratory test work and applying the data to equipment selection;
    • Performing conceptual, feasibility and detailed mechanical design work, including equipment and piping specifications, and plant layouts;
    • Performing material balances and process control descriptions;
    • Preparing, writing and reviewing proposals and project reports;
    • Interacting with clients and being responsible for project deliverables and client satisfaction;
    • Coordinating with other disciplines and other Golder Associates groups;
    • Participating in Golder’s Health & Safety program; and,
    • Assisting with other project work as required.

    Job Requirements

    The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering;
    • Current status as (or future eligibility for) Professional Engineer;
    • Knowledge of standard software (Word, Excel, Access, MS Project, etc.);
    • Knowledge of 3D design software (AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks, etc.) would be an asset;
    • Experience with mining operations would be an asset;
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
    • Ability to work in a collegial environment;
    • Be well versed in risk assessment and general Health & Safety requirements;
    • Be available for local and international business travel and extended working hours when required; and,
    • Be a team player with strong people skills.
