  • Job Responsibilities

     

    Golder Associates Inc. is currently seeking an Environmental Technician for the Buffalo office (located in Getzville, New York). This is a full-time hourly position with benefits and the possibility of overtime after 40 hours per week.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work with an environmental compliance sampling team at a RCRA regulated waste management facility in the Erie-Niagara Region of Western New York. As required by the facility’s New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) 6 NYCRR Part 373 permit, the duties include:
      • performing daily RCRA inspections
      • performing surface water sampling including setting up and maintaining auto-samplers
      • conducting air and meteorological sampling
      • sampling wells and tanks associated with the groundwater extraction systems
      • conducting groundwater and leachate sampling
      • maintaining thorough inspection and sampling activity documentation and preparing detailed written summaries of inspection and sampling tasks/findings and issues
      • Participate in engineering projects that involve construction inspection, material testing and other field investigations, and assist in report writing and assembly, and data management.

     

    Job Requirements

     

    • Candidate must have an Associates degree (at a minimum) in an environmental science related field
    • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER and RCRA Hazardous Waste Generator training required
    • Must be able to wear a half-face air purifying respirator
    • Must be able to work outdoors in all seasonal weather conditions
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license
    • Ability to work on weekends and holidays required
    • Must have ability to travel 10% of schedule for out-of-town project opportunities, including periods of more than five days
    • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Able to work independently and as part of an inspection team
    • Due to the remote location of the Site assignment, qualified residents of Niagara County, New York will be given strong preference.
