An opportunity now exists for a Staff Geotechnical Engineer to join our Anchorage team. The focus of the work includes developing and conducting geotechnical field investigation programs, geotechnical engineering analysis, and reporting. The successful candidate will work closely with our Alaska geotechnical group that specializes in permafrost related geotechnical engineering aspects, rock mechanics, and fundamental geotechnical engineering applications.
You will be expected to have regular interaction with clients in our public infrastructure sector and oil and gas sector. Project management oversight capability is desirable, however, not required. The position will require travel and work at remote locations in Alaska and other areas as needed to meet project requirements.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with experienced teams in executing geotechnical investigations in frozen and unfrozen ground, and perform shallow and deep foundation engineering analysis.

It is preferred that qualified candidates have a master’s degree from an ABET accredited university in geotechnical or civil engineering with an emphasis in geotechnical engineering. It is required that qualified candidates have, at minimum, an undergraduate degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited university. A minimum of 3 years post-graduate degree geotechnical engineering experience is required if you hold a masters degree. A minimum of 5 years post-bachelors geotechnical engineering experience is required if you hold an undergraduate degree. At this time, at least 6 months of field experience conducting geotechnical site investigations with subsurface soil exploration methods is required. Soil geotechnical experience and career interest is required. Applicable training or experience in cold regions and/or permafrost regions is preferred. Experience with soil and/or rock specimen laboratory testing programs for index and strength properties is desired.
Professional engineer registration is preferred. Successful candidates must demonstrate ability to obtain Alaska Professional Engineer registration within 18 months of hire date.
